At Garrett & Garrett we trace our iineage through Bedford's most distinguished legal minds -- from father and son Supreme Court of Appeals Justices, the Honorable Edward C. Burks and the Honorable Martin P. Burks, to Bedford's representative on the First Virginia Bar Council, John B. Oliver, Esquire.

Mr. Oliver hired Harry W. Garrett, Jr., upon completion of his education (University of Richmond, B.A. 1958, T.C. Williams School of Law, LLB, 1961).  Harry W. Garrett, Jr., practiced in Bedford for over 40 years, serving with distinction as Commonwealth's Attorney, Delegate to Bar Council, and in private practice.

In 1991, Harry W. Garrett, Jr. hired his son, Carter B. Garrett (University of Virginia, B.A. 1987, T. C. Williams School of Law, J.D. 1991).  Over the past two decades, Carter B. Garrett acquired a deep understanding of small town law and a vast trial experience.  He practices in a variety of disciplines with a focus in criminal, personal injury and traffic/ DUI.  He also provides general legal services in areas that include will preparation, estate administration, litigaing family and divorce cases, civil actions and land disputes.
